With layer recording, we will record each instrument seperately. The guitarist and bassist will plug in digitally and play while the drummer records. After the drums have been recorded, the bassist will record his/her track to the recorded drum track. Then the guitarist, and finally the vocals. After all recording is completed we begin adding any sound effects and then mix it down. Recording in this manner allows for a much higher quality sound allowing us to individually tweak each instrument, and is the most effective way to get the best sound possible!
With live recording, we will record the entire group at once. Sound effects and extra layers can be added after each song is recorded, however the rate will not change. The mixing occurs after all the music has been recorded. If you're looking to record a simple demo or CD, then this is for you! The quality is less than that of layer recording, however this process takes less time.
